Shad Nongkrem
‘Shad Nongkrem’ or Nongkrem Dance, the annual thanksgiving festival of Hima Khyrim, will be celebrated at Smit on November 6 and 7, the Syiem of Hima Khyrim, Balajied Syiem, said on Monday. In a statement, Syiem said that the dance is to preserve the old traditions, customs and usages from the past and invokes the blessing of God for the well being, peace and prosperity of “ki Khun ki Hajar” of Hima Khyrim.
Health camp
The Sohiong Community Health Centre, Sohiong C&RD Block, in collaboration with Meghalaya AIDS Control Society, will organise a Mega Health Camp on October 21 at the Sohiong CHC premises. Several line departments such as ICDS, NRLM, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary will also participate to provide multi-sectoral support and awareness to the community.
