Jirang legislator honoured after induction into State Cabinet

NONGPOH, Oct 13: Jirang MLA an MDC Sosthenes Sohtun was honoured by the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong (SKRS) of Byrnihat Area at a programme on Monday, following his induction into the State Cabinet as Minister in charge of the Community and Rural Development, General Administration, and Secretariat Administration departments.
The felicitation ceremony, held at Byrnihat, was attended by leaders of the SKRS, including its Chairman Kendrowell Lapang, Secretary Johniyo Syiem, and several other office-bearers and village heads from the area.
In their speeches, the leaders of the Synjuk expressed deep pride and joy over the state government’s decision under the leadership of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to induct Sohtun, who is affectionately called Bahdeng, as a cabinet minister. They said that through this new responsibility, Sohtun will be able to serve the people of his constituency, the district, and the state even more effectively.
In his response, Sohtun expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Synjuk for organising the event, recognising his service and dedication toward the welfare and development of the people.
He also urged the local leaders of the border area to remain vigilant against rising anti-social activities, the infiltration of illegal immigrants, and particularly incidents of kidnapping and killing of children as reported in the media in recent days.
