SHILLONG, Oct 13: The All Meghalaya Primary School Teachers’ Association (AMPSTA) held a meeting in Jowai, during which the Association resolved that the deficit posts should not be abolished.
The Association stated that even when teachers holding deficit posts retire, their services must continue under the same sanctioned posts.
It was also informed that the general secretary of the association had undertaken an official trip to Delhi, Haryana, and Assam to discuss matters related to the ongoing TET situation as per the Supreme Court order dated September 1, 2025. Based on discussions with officials of various state associations, it was suggested that the Meghalaya government should follow the examples set by Haryana (HTET), Assam (ATET), and Delhi (DTET), including their respective district and state-level implementing authorities, and adopt similar measures.
The Association further decided to extend its support to the AUFTF, which has filed a petition in the Supreme Court concerning the TET issue.
Additionally, the AMPSTA resolved to oppose the One UDISE, One Management, One Account system unless the Education Department issues clear and proper guidelines. A final decision on this matter will be made after the guidelines are reviewed.
The Association also plans to meet the Education Minister, the Commissioner and Secretary of Education, and the Director of School Education and Literacy to seek clarification on various demands already submitted to these officials.
The Executive Committee meeting was presided over by Dipak D Sangma, president of AMPSTA.
