Roundtable on India’s Look East Policy

SHILLONG: The Asian Confluence is organizing a daylong roundtable “India’s Look East Policy: Strengthening the Look South Aspect: Exploring win-win synergies through Indo Bangladesh Border Trade and Tourism” on April 21 at its Conference Hall from 10:30am.

A statement issued by Asian Confluence said that the roundtable is supported by Department of Commerce and Industry, Government of Meghalaya with active participation from local academic institutions, business communities, tourism and other and key participation by Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development.

This initiative by civil society, will aim to build on previous attempts on the subject, create further synergy across active organizations, and complement ongoing efforts by governmental and trade organizations.

The meet aims to bring together individuals and organizations active at policy-making and operational levels in the field of trade, industry, transport, tourism, and hospitality among others from the region and Bangladesh.

As part of the programme scheduled to be held on April 21, the cross disciplinary round table will deliberate to propose an action plan out-of-the-box solutions that can jumpstart solutions that can benefit the state of Meghalaya and assert its strategic importance in the country at large.

It also aims at promoting new paradigms with special focus on tourism and tourism as a catalyst to spawn trade and commerce.
