Shillong, Oct 15: The 5-day POWERGRID Inter-Regional Football Tournament 2025 culminated in a thrilling finale at the SAI Ground, NEHU, Shillong on Wednesday, with the North Eastern Region (NER) team successfully defending their title.
Hosted by POWERGRID North Eastern Region (NER) from October 11 to 15, the tournament saw 154 players from 11 POWERGRID regions compete for top honours. The semi-finals on Tuesday set the stage for an electrifying final, as Southern Region (SR) II overcame Western Region (WR) I, while NER defeated CC to secure their place in the title clash.
In the final showdown, NER showcased their dominance, defeating SR II to lift the Champions Trophy. SR II claimed the first runner-up position, while CC finished as second runner-up.
Individual accolades highlighted outstanding performances across the tournament. Sumit Sutradhar of NER was named Player of the Tournament, WR II received the Best Fair Play Team trophy, and Nikhil Kumar of CC emerged as the tournament’s top scorer.
