SHILLONG: A closed-door meeting of MPCC president Friday Lyngdoh and former Chief Minister DD Lapang on Wednesday night at latter’s residence here has raised a hope for an early solution to the current political stalemate.

According to sources, the meeting between Lyngdoh and Lapang lasted for over 45 minutes.

Sources said the MPCC president entered Lapang’s residence at Jaiaw at around 8 pm and left around 8.45 pm.

However, no details of the meeting are available.

As the president of the party, Lyngdoh said he wanted an amicable solution to leadership issue, it is learnt.

When contacted, Lapang said he was still in a meeting and not available for comment.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day Lyngdoh, while speaking to reporters, had reiterated that there is no question of any change of leadership.

“There would be no change. You have to wait, watch and see what I am saying is true,” Lyngdoh said.

He said the frequent change of change would not do any good.

“Not only it is affecting the image of the party but also the overall development of the State,” the MPCC president said.

“Being an MPCC president I am not taking sides with any body. But it always upsets me to see dissident legislators going directly to Delhi to air their grievances,” he added.
