Agartala: The district administration would start land acquisition process for the proposed 15-km Indo-Bangla rail link after the Lok Sabha elections, according sources in the state administration.
The joint survey and line alignment for the proposed land connectivity has already been done by the agencies entrusted with the task. As per the alignment, the district administration will begin land acquisition probably after the Parliamentary elections.
The Indian Railway Construction Company Ltd (IRCON) and the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) have jointly finalized the alignment for the proposed Agartala-Gangasagar rail link.
The alignment too has been put on the Revenue Map to undertake land acquisition process for the dream Indo-Bangla rail link.
General Manager (Construction), the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Rajesh Kumar Singh on Tuesday inspected the alignment for the Indo-Bangla rail link. However, he did not say anything on the status of the rail projects in the state.
When contacted, Transport Secretary Kishore Ambuly said, “No meeting was scheduled in between the state government authority and visiting NFR official as it was entirely internal visit. We had a meeting with NFR officials earlier where the status of the rail projects was reviewed threadbare”.
On being asked if there is any trouble centering land for laying rail track from Agartala to Udaipur, Ambuly said, “There are some problems centering land acquisition for the 44-km proposed rail track. We are on the move to solve the problems at the earliest”.
As per the schedule, the 44-km BG rail track from Agartala to Udaipur is supposed to be completed by March 2015 next.
On the 70 km rail link from Udaipur to Sabroom, Amubly said the state government has sought permission from Ministry of Environment and Forest to use forest land for the proposed rail link. “We are yet to get permission to use forest land for the project from the MOEF”, he said.
The Udaipur-Sabroom rail project is expected to get completed by March 2016.
