Ampati, Oct 25: As part of the nationwide campaign marking five years of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), an inter-departmental volleyball tournament was organised at the Ampati Mini Stadium on Friday to raise awareness about substance abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle.
The event was jointly coordinated by the departments of Social Welfare, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), and Sports, in collaboration with the District Administration of South West Garo Hills.
In an exciting final match, the Social Welfare Department team defeated the Medical Department 25–20 to clinch the championship title.
The winners were presented the trophy by Dolrich B.G. Momin, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ampati, in the presence of ZR Marak, District Social Welfare Officer, and G Ch Marak, Treasury Officer, Ampati District Treasury.
The tournament was part of a series of district-wide activities leading up to a grand national event in November 2025, celebrating the fifth anniversary of the NMBA campaign aimed at building a drug-free India.
