St Edmund’s, Pine Mount win inter-school swimming championship

Shillong, Oct 26: St. Edmund’s School and Pine Mount School emerged overall champions at the 1st All Shillong Inter-School Swimming Championship 2025, hosted by True North Fitness Centre and Swimming Academy, which concluded on Sunday.
St. Edmund’s dominated the boys’ category with a medal tally of 10 Gold, 10 Silver and 9 Bronze, while Pine Mount School reigned supreme in the girls’ section with 6 Gold, 6 Silver and 7 Bronze.The championship, held over October 25–26, saw 155 swimmers from 25 schools across Shillong compete fiercely across five age categories — 9–10, 11–12, 13–14, 15–17 and 18–20 years — with events ranging from the 50m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke to the 200m Individual Medley. Among the standout performers were Banpynshngain Syngwan and Pdiangsuklang Syngwan (both from Shillong College Higher Secondary Education), who claimed the Best Swimmer honours in the 18–20 years category. In the younger divisions, Shaun M. Diengdoh (Assam Rifles Public School) and Nazareen Pariong (Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Girls H.S. School) shone in the 15–17 group, while Meiaipynsan L. Tron (Seven Set School) and Verem G. Nongsiej (Kendriya Vidyalaya EAC, Upper Shillong) dominated the 13–14 section. Keanan M. Momin (St. Edmund’s) and Anisa R. Phanbuh (Jyoti Sroat School) impressed in the 11–12 group, and in the youngest category, Ila E. Khongji (Pine Mount School) shared the spotlight with joint winners Jeremiah D. Shadap (St. Edmund’s) and Amaziah A. Diengdoh (Leads H.S. School).
