Body fished out from Umkhein river

Shillong, Oct 26: The body of a 50-year-old man was recovered by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Umkhein River at Jaroit village in East Khasi Hills, on Saturday.
Staff Officer, Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, Paul H Shylla, informed that the SDRF was activated by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills, after the man identified as Kellshon Shadap, husband of Sibonda War and a resident of Pdengshnong, Nonghali, went missing while fishing in the Umkhein river at Jaroit village.
The SDRF team-led by Sub Inspector DK Kharbih, conducted a search operation using barbed wire and dived into the water.
After casting for half an hour, SDRF jawans T Khongstia and I Lapasam fished the body out from the water.
The body of the deceased man was handed over to the police.
