Shillong to play N’land in U-19 cricket final

SHILLONG: The Shillong Cricket Association will clash with the Nagaland Cricket Association on Thursday in the final of the Under-19 One Day Cricket Tournament, organised by the NCA in Dimapur.
In the last match of the round robin league, SCA needed a victory over Jorhat District Team, which they narrowly achieved, winning by just two runs.
SCA won the toss and elected to bat first, but were bundled out for a low total of 142 in 43.4 overs.
The chief contributors were Bijon Dey (31 runs), Manish Rai (28) and Tarique Siddique (19).
In reply, Jorhat District Association were restricted to 140 all out in 49.3 overs.
A splendid bowling performance by Aiborlang Wahlang (3-20) ensured that the Shillong team came through by the slimmest of margins.
Aiborlang polished off the tail in the final over without conceding a run.
Earlier in the innings, Nafeez Siddique removed the top order and claimed figures of 5-25.
SCA will now play NCA, with whom they tied their earlier encounter in the league stage after both sides scored 183 runs.
Rajesh Tatti scored 95 for SCA in that game.
