SHILLONG: A three-day inter-school athletics meet, organised by the District Sports Office, North Garo Hills, in collaboration with the Resubelpara Sports Association, was inaugurated at the Mini Stadium, Resubelpara on Wednesday.
Thirteen different schools are participating in the sports meet.
W Khyllep, NGH Deputy Commissioner, urged the athletes taking part to keep the spirit of sportsmanship alive so that they may be able to bring laurels to their own district.
Encouraging the students further while inaugurating the event, Khyllep also asked them to strive for the achievement of their goals.
The DC also urged the DSO to provide adequate coaching facilities for the youth of the district in order to be able to excel in sports.
Fourteen events will be held over the course of the April 23-25 meet.
