Man found dead in abandoned house in Ri-Bhoi

SHILLONG, Oct 30: Police in Ri-Bhoi are trying to identify a man whose body was discovered inside an abandoned house at 20th Mile, Pahammawlein, on Thursday afternoon.
According to police, the headman of the area informed authorities around 2 PM that a male body had been found. Officers from Byrnihat Police Outpost visited the site and conducted an inquiry.
The deceased, known locally only by the surname Boro, had reportedly been working in the area as a hired help for the past five to six years. Despite efforts by the police and residents, his full identity could not be established. The body has been shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post-mortem and further identification.
Police described the deceased as a man aged around 58-60 years, about 5.5 feet tall, and wearing a blue-and-white striped track pant with a multicoloured (red-white-black) sweatshirt.
