TURA, Nov 2: BJP leader and Tura MDC Bernard Marak on Sunday said that while the Chief Minister and the Sub Committee had provided assurances to GHADC employees to clear a year’s salary within October and to regularly pay the salaries from November, both promises remain unfulfilled so far.
“An investigation revealed that the majority of employees did not receive the promised year’s salary. Instead, the Executive Committee increased allowances and perks by adding car allowances, orderly and casual drivers, resulting in an additional increase of Rs 75,000 to their existing salaries, while depriving the MDCs from non-ruling parties,” Bernard claimed, in a statement.
Reminding that all elected MDCs were entitled to equal salaries, he, however, claimed allowances were only being added to the ruling MDCs’ salaries and that those in the opposition were being deprived. “I urge the Chief Minister to instruct the CEM to release the salaries and fulfill the assurance and provide the promised benefits to all employees without partiality. Elected MDCs should also be treated equally and all benefits should be added fairly, as these benefits are part of the Agreed Text for Agreement signed by ANVC and ANVC.B groups,” he stated.
