Govt invites bids for VIP chopper service

SHILLONG, Nov 5: The Commissioner of Transport, on behalf of the Transport department, has invited proposals through the process of e-tendering from eligible bidders for the wet lease of one twin-engine helicopter for VIP travel, with a passenger seating capacity of 7 to 8 excluding crew, and having technical specifications as per DGCA norms. According to the Request for Proposal (RFP), the agreement shall be valid for an initial period of one year and may be extended on the same rates, terms and conditions with mutual consent. It shall come into effect from the date the helicopter is positioned at the base location and made available for the state government after signing the agreement. The helicopter will be utilised for VIP and VVIP passenger transportation throughout Meghalaya and adjoining areas. The minimum committed flying hours for the helicopter shall be 360 hours per year, i.e., 30 hours per month. The RFP further specifies that the helicopters offered by the bidder must comply with DGCA guidelines and should not be more than 10 years old as of the operational date during the contract period. The bidder must also have a minimum fleet of three helicopters (all in fully airworthy condition) of the type and model offered in the tender, with supporting documents enclosed. Additionally, the bidder must be able to provide an alternate helicopter of the same capacity in case of any technical non-availability of the helicopter provided under this bid.

Teachers trained on innovative science communication techniques

SHILLONG, Nov 5: A total of 43 teachers from Mawkynrew C&RD Block benefitted from a three-day Teacher Training Programme on Science Communication, which culminated on Wednesday. Organised by the Shillong Science Centre, the training programme was held under the ‘Science on Wheels’ initiative, a programme that promotes scientific awareness through a mobile science unit visiting schools. During the training programme, sessions were conducted by R. Medhi, Retired Education Officer of the National Science Centre, Guwahati, who guided participants on hands-on techniques for teaching physics, chemistry and mathematics using everyday materials such as newspapers, plastic bottles and other easily available household items. “The programme concluded with a call for continued collaboration with schools of all C&RD Blocks. Career counselling prog for students

SHILLONG, Nov 5: In a bid to guide students in identifying suitable career paths and higher education opportunities, the Rotary Club Shillong Heritage, in collaboration with Admissions India, organised a career counselling programme for Class 12 students of Seng Khasi Higher Secondary School and 5th semester students of Seng Khasi College on Wednesday. The programme focused on helping students align their interests and abilities with appropriate academic and professional choices, while also introducing them to emerging skill development avenues. The event was attended by college president, Rtn. Gideon Kharmawphlang, along with Seng Khasi College principal H. Dohtdong and president of the Higher Secondary Section B. Kharwanlang.
