Shillong, Nov 8: It was a day of dominant performances in the ongoing Deuce Ball Cricket Tournament as United Brothers and SYM registered convincing victories in their respective matches on Saturday.
At the Sanmer Cricket Ground, United Brothers continued their fine run with a 32-run win over Super Kings Sohiong, thanks to a superb all-round effort. Batting first, they posted 167 for 6 in 20 overs, led by Rihan Kharbuli’s fluent 51 off 36 balls and Piyush Sunar Yadav’s 47 off 37 deliveries, while Kalyan Baurah chipped in with 28. For Sohiong, Bankerlang Syiemiong and Wenberstar Syiemiong picked up two wickets apiece.
In reply, Super Kings Sohiong could manage only 135 for 6, despite Tyngshain Lang Jana’s 32 off 22 balls and Bestarsius Syiemiong’s 25. Ganesh Sunar starred with the ball for United Brothers, claiming 4 for 23, while Rihan Kharbuli and Saqir Qurashi took one wicket each to seal the win.
Meanwhile, over at another venue, SYM produced a clinical display to crush Royal Challenger CC by 93 runs.
After posting 154 for 9, with Samelawan S Nongkseh (44), Pynbhalang Kharsati (21) and Tony Pathaw (19) making vital contributions, SYM’s bowlers ran riot.
Royal Challenger CC collapsed for just 61 in 17.2 overs, undone by Souradeep Deberma’s 3 for 5, supported by Hriday Chetri (2/7) and Samelawan (1/8).
The defeat was sealed after a disastrous start that saw Royal Challenger lose their first three wickets for zero runs.
