Youth dies in road mishap, another critical

Shillong, Nov 20: A 25-year-old youth, Dargash Kumar Rai of Mawnianglah, died on the spot while another, Habit Sangma (21) from Hat Mawdon, sustained serious injuries after the two-wheeler they were riding crashed into a stationary truck at Upper Shillong.
According to police, the incident occurred near Elephant Falls junction, 7th Mile, at around 9.30 pm on Wednesday.
The police further stated that the scooty (ML05 AG 0862), was being ridden by the deceased, Dargash Kumar Rai, while Habit Sangma was riding pillion.
They were travelling from the Pomlum side when the vehicle rammed into a truck (ML04 B 0145) parked by the roadside.
Police said the impact of the collision was severe, causing fatal injuries to Dargash and leaving Habit Sangma critically hurt.
