Audit Week celebrations begin in city

SHILLONG, Nov 21: The Audit Week celebrations were jointly inaugurated here by the three offices of the Indian Audit & Accounts Department in Shillong— the Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), the Office of the Principal Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlement), and the Regional Capacity Building & Knowledge Institute—on Friday.
According to a statement here, the objective of the event is to commemorate the historic establishment of the Institution of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and its 166-year contribution to good governance, transparency and accountability in public resource management.
It may be mentioned that the main function of the Audit Divas celebration was held on November 16 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, which was attended by Vice President CP Radhakrishnan as the chief guest.
The celebrations in Shillong began with two internal workshops on ‘Digital Security’ and ‘Leveraging e-Office, OIOS Toolkit and Data Analytics for Efficiency’, which aimed to assist staff in digitising daily office operations and utilising IT tools for enhanced efficiency and security.
The sessions for the same were led by subject matter experts Dhiren Kumar Pradhan, consultant; Rothan L. Gangte, AAO; and Ary Zereel Lyngdoh, AAO.
The Audit Week celebrations will continue until December 15 and feature several programmes.
The closing ceremony of Audit Week will be held at 11 am on December 15 at the State Convention Hall, Shillong, with Calvin Harris Kharshiing, Additional Deputy Comptroller & Auditor General, Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General – NER, Guwahati, as the chief guest.
