SHILLONG, Nov 22: Meghalaya has achieved a key milestone under the Meghalaya Film Tourism Policy 2025 with the completion of its first full-length feature film, the Telugu crime-comedy Baa Baa Black Sheep. Directed by Guni Manchikanti and produced by Chitralayam Studios, the film was shot entirely in Sohra over 25 days, engaging nearly 2,000 local youth — one of the state’s largest creative employment initiatives.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the project demonstrates Meghalaya’s readiness to host national productions and strengthens its position as an emerging filmmaking hub. Producer Venu Donepudi praised the state’s support and the efficiency of local teams, adding that the film will also be released in a Khasi version.
The achievement aligns with the State’s Vision 2032, which positions tourism and the creative sector as major economic drivers. The Meghalaya Film Tourism Policy 2025 offers subsidies of up to ₹1 crore, fast-track approvals via the Invest Meghalaya Portal, and incentives for employing local talent and showcasing regional content — all aimed at attracting more national and international film projects.
The movie will also be released in Khasi, and the premiere is likely to be held in Hyderabad. Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has assured that he will attend the premiere of the film, which was shot entirely in Meghalaya.
