SHILLONG: The HNYF Raliang Circle has decided to file a case against the JHADC for refusing to provide the necessary information which the former had sought under the RTI.
“The JHADC has denied us with the information relating to the Gratuity Relief and Discretionary Grants,” HNYF Raliang Circle president Donbok Dkhar said while talking to newsmen on Thursday.
According to him, they had filed an RTI with the JHADC requesting to provide the certified copies of the list of beneficiaries and the amount credited to each beneficiary under the Gratuity Relief and Discretionary Grants.
In the reply received on April 28, the JHADC Public Information Officer (PIO) D Sena had claimed that they could not provide the documents by citing the decision of the Central Information Commission in the case of Rajendra Singh and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), he said.
“The JHADC PIO has also claimed the files dealing with the matter are not available at present since they were seized by the officer in charge of Jowai police station.”
According to him, the argument on the part of the PIO who incidentally is the Finance and Account Officer in the JHADC was not acceptable.
“We are meeting our lawyer on Friday to file a case against the Council,” HNYF Raliang Circle president informed.
Meanwhile, he said that they were also going to meet the JHADC CEM Thombor Shiwat to suspend the PIO for failing to discharge his duties.
“We have documents which showed that relatives of the PIO are also beneficiaries of the Gratuity Relief and Discretionary Grants. But the names of the relatives do not feature in original list of beneficiaries as per the RTI filed by the RTI activist from Jaintia Hills which exposed the swindling of funds by former JHADC CEM MB Rymbai,” Dkhar said.
