Couple uses AI tools to create fake local railway pass, detained

Thane, Nov 27: Police have detained a woman sales manager of a private bank and her engineer husband for allegedly creating a fake season pass for local railway travel in the Mumbai suburban network using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, officials said on Thursday. The couple’s fraud came to light on November 26 when a ticket checker was examining the tickets in an AC local train going to Dadar in Mumbai from Kalyan in Thane, in which the woman was travelling, they said. She was caught when the train was between Kalyan and Dombivli stations, they said. During questioning, her husband confessed to using his coding knowledge to indulge in this sophisticated forgery. He said he used AI tools to generate a counterfeit UTS pass, according to the police. (PTI)

Cyclone Senyar expected to drift eastwards

CHENNAI, Nov 27: Cyclone Senyar, presently centred over the coastal belt of northeast Indonesia and the adjoining Strait of Malacca, is expected to drift eastwards while maintaining its cyclonic storm intensity. However, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has clarified that Senyar poses no threat to Tamil Nadu and will not influence weather conditions over the state. Meanwhile, the weather system brewing over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Sri Lanka coast intensified into a deep depression on Thursday, with meteorologists warning that it will strengthen into a cyclonic storm by Thursday evening. According to the RMC, the system is expected to move northwestwards across the southwest Bay and the Sri Lankan coastline toward north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and the adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast by Saturday.
