Govt renews agreement with NGOs running CHCs, PHCs

SHILLONG: The State Government has decided to renew its agreement with various NGOs which are running Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the State under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
“We have decided to revise the rate for operating of these health centres in view of the revised salaries which have been made available to the Government employees,” Chief Minister Mukul Sangma informed after the Cabinet meeting here on Friday.
The Chief Minister also informed that the Cabinet has approved the extension of the State Block Guarantee (SBG) of Rs 10 crore in favour of NABARD for availing refinance facilities for Meghalaya Co-Operative Bank Limited for seasonal agriculture credit organization, particularly for the development of tribal population.
He said that the Cabinet has directed the department of cooperation to explore possibilities of tie ups with various financial institutions to provide credit at cheaper interests to the farmers.
