2-day Smart India Hackathon grand finale begins tomorrow

SHILLONG, Dec 6: Student teams from across the country will converge at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on December 8 and 9 for the grand finale of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025–Software Edition.
The event, organised under the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and AICTE, will see shortlisted innovators working on real-world problem statements provided by government departments and industry bodies.
The inaugural ceremony on 8 December will feature Santosh VT, Scientist-F and State Information Officer of the National Informatics Centre, MeitY, as the chief guest and keynote speaker. On the other hand, Yogesh Brahmankar, Director (Innovation) at the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, will attend as guest of honour.
NEHU will also link into the nationwide live-streamed inauguration of SIH teams participating from institutions across India. A high tea for dignitaries will follow the programme.
Held under the theme ‘Hack for Bharat, Build for the World’, the SIH 2025 finale at NEHU aims to highlight emerging talent in technology and reaffirm the university’s focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and research-driven development.
