Shillong, Dec 8: Meghalaya made a strong statement on the Asian stage as four armwrestlers from the state returned with nine medals from the IX Asian Armwrestling and VIII Para Armwrestling Cup 2025 held in Ajman, UAE.
The standout performances came across multiple categories. Shanborlang Siangshai of Khanduli earned two silver medals in the Para Hearing Impairment (Standing Men 70 kg) division, while Angel Mary Mylliem Umlong Khunsyiem from Umlyngka dominated the Master Women 70 kg category with two golds.
In the Grandmaster Women Open category, Meghalaya continued its impressive run. Mihsngewbha Rymbai of Ri Bhoi secured one gold and one silver, matched medal for medal by Starina Jasain of Nongmynsong, who also clinched one gold and one silver.
The Meghalaya Arm Wrestling Association described the achievement as a proud moment for the state.
