Shillong, Dec 9: A day after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed Guwahati is set to become a major global concert destination and rival Shillong, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma welcomed the development, asserting that it will strengthen the entire northeastern region’s music and concert ecosystem.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Conrad Sangma said he does not view Assam’s ambition as competition but as a positive step to put the region on the global map.
“I see it as healthy and constructive collaboration rather than rivalry. Such initiatives will only help promote the Northeast as a vibrant music destination,” the Chief Minister said.
