NONGPOH, Dec 10: The Dorbar Shnong of Bhoirymbong Lumsohpieng, in collaboration with members of the Village Defence Party (VDP), on Wednesday morning apprehended three men and seized approximately 60 litres of illicit liquor during a raid conducted near the roadside leading towards Mynsain village.
According to sources, the trio had reportedly been at the location since late Tuesday evening until Wednesday morning, when village leaders, accompanied by VDP members, carried out the raid. During the operation, the team recovered the concealed liquor, which had been hidden in nearby bushes.
Following the arrest of the three individuals and the seizure of the liquor, the village authorities immediately handed them over to the police at Khapmara PIC for necessary action as per the law.
Meanwhile, Bhoirymbong Lumsohpieng headman, Hamjngai Hinge, said the village has consistently prohibited the sale of illegal liquor within its jurisdiction, as such activities bring harm to residents.
He asserted that the Dorbar Shnong will not tolerate such offences and will continue to take strict action against anyone found engaging in illegal liquor-related activities.
He also urged neighbouring villages to ensure that similar unlawful practices are not allowed within their respective areas.
