Delhi air slips to ‘very poor’
NEW DELHI, Dec 11: After two days’ reprieve, Delhi’s air quality again slipped to ‘very poor’ with a 24-hour average AQI of 307.Of the 40 monitoring stations in the city, 25 recorded air in the ‘very poor’ band, with Rohini reporting the worst air at 372 on the CPCB’s Sameer app.According to the Decision Support System for Delhi’s Air Quality Management, transport was the biggest contributor at 16.6 per cent, followed by Delhi and peripheral industries at 8.3 per cent, construction at 2.2 per cent, and residential sources at 4 per cent.In the NCR, Jhajjar contributed 18 per cent to the city’s pollution load, Rohtak 5.8 per cent, Sonipat 2.7 per cent, Bhiwani 3.9 per cent, and Gurgaon 1.9 per cent.In the morning, the capital recorded ‘poor’ air with an AQI of 288. The air quality is likely to be ‘very poor’ till Saturday, the Air Quality Early Warning System said. (PTI)
Coast Guard seizes Pak boat in Indian waters, 11 held
AHMEDABAD, Dec 11: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has seized a Pakistani fishing boat and apprehended 11 crew members operating illegally in the Indian waters, officials said on Thursday.The detainees have been handed over to Jakhau Marine Police in Gujarat for further investigation, they said.The Indian Coast Guard, in a swift action on Wednesday, “apprehended a Pakistani fishing boat with 11 crew inside India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ),” Gujarat Defence PRO Wing Commander Abhishek Kumar Tiwari said in a post on X. Fake IAS officer held in Gorakhpur
GORAKHPUR, Dec 11: A man posing as an IAS officer for the past six months was arrested here.They said they nabbed Lalit Kishor of Sitamarhi (Bihar), who posed as IAS officer ‘Gaurav Kumar’ on Wednesday.Lalit Kishor allegedly created a full-fledged racket involving fake inspections, promises of tenders and jobs, and large-scale extortion.His brother-in-law and aide have also been arrested.The fraud was exposed with an anonymous complaint that also revealed that Lalit Kishor had been living in a rented house and running an office.To appear authentic, he moved around in beacon-fitted vehicles, displayed forged government nameplates and even hired 10 gunmen at Rs 30,000 a month each, complete with a stenographer who he paid Rs 60,000, police said.Several forged IDs, laptops, jewellery, cash, and many AI-generated photos in which Lalit Kishor had replaced real officials’ faces with his own were seized with the arrest.
