MTA–AITA U-16 tennis tournament begins in Shillong

Shillong, Dec 15: The MTA–AITA Championship Series (CS7) Under-16 Boys and Girls tennis tournament got underway on Monday at the Shillong Club Tennis Courts.
Organised by the Meghalaya Tennis Association (MTA) in association with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA), Government of Meghalaya, the tournament will run from December 15 to 19 and features young players from across the country.
Monday saw a number of competitive matches, with several players producing strong performances in the second round of the boys’ category. Arnav Bhuyan defeated Udiit Praghan 6–2, 6–3, while Rosangkima Hlondo registered a 6–4, 6–0 win over Manveek Das. Ayyan Rehman got the better of Sookhi Dorjee 6–2, 6–1, and Jyotishman Kashyap advanced with a convincing 6–0, 6–0 victory against Chandogya Tridive Pathak.The winners progressed to the quarterfinals as the tournament moves into the decisive stages in the coming days.
