NONGPOH, Dec 15: Two key development projects at Mawphrow village in Ri-Bhoi district, including a newly constructed Dorbar Hall and the office building of the Iasnohktilang Village Organisation, were inaugurated by Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem on Monday.
According to representatives of the Dorbar Shnong Mawphrow and the Iasnohktilang Village Organisation, both institutions had long been functioning without permanent office infrastructure and were earlier compelled to operate from temporary sheds. The inauguration of the new facilities was therefore described as a significant milestone for the village, enabling smoother administration and better implementation of community-level programmes.
The Dorbar Hall was constructed under the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) for the year 2020–2021, while the office building of the Iasnohktilang Village Organisation was built through converged funding from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
On the same occasion, Syiem also handed over a work order to the Iasnohktilang Village Organisation for the construction of a new sanitation facility at the Pineapple Processing Unit located within the village.
