BEIRUT, Dec 18: Israel launched a series of airstrikes across southern and northeastern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah infrastructure, weapons storage, and training sites, ahead of a US-brokered ceasefire committee meeting.
The strikes coincided with Lebanon’s push to clear the border south of the Litani River of Hezbollah armed presence by year-end.
A drone strike near Taybeh also caused casualties.
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri described the strikes as a message supporting the Paris meeting aimed at bolstering the Lebanese army.
Since the 2023 Israel-Hezbollah conflict, Israel has conducted frequent airstrikes, killing both militants and civilians, while the US pressures Lebanon to act against Hezbollah. (AP)
