Gorkha body mourns demise of educationist

SHILLONG, Dec 21: The Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh, Meghalaya State, on Sunday held a condolence meeting at the Upper Mawprem Cultural Centre to mourn the untimely demise of Sanjay Rana, Principal of BBS College and a founder member of the organisation. His shraadh (chokhini) ceremony will be held on Tuesday at his residence in Jhalupara.
Members of the organisation observed a moment of silence and paid tributes to Rana, remembering him as a committed educationist and social worker who dedicated his life to the upliftment of society. The organisation recalled his role as a guiding force in strengthening the Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh since its inception and his contributions towards promoting unity, education and social awareness within the Gorkha community.
As an academician, Rana was remembered for his deep commitment to education, which inspired students and colleagues alike. As a community leader, his wisdom, humility and dedication earned him wide respect across social and cultural circles.
The Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh expressed its condolences to the bereaved family and conveyed solidarity with them during the period of mourning, while offering prayers for eternal peace to the departed soul.
