City school registers win at budding scientist event

SHILLONG, Dec 22: Carmel School, Sadew, Shillong, has once again secured the winner’s title of the East Zone at the Macmillan Budding Scientist Event 2025-2026, marking its second consecutive victory in this prestigious competition.
Organised by Macmillan Education India Private Limited, the event took place on Saturday at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati.
According to a statement here, the competition saw students from various schools across the East Zone showcase innovative scientific projects, demonstrating creativity, problem-solving skills and a robust foundation in scientific inquiry.
The top honour was secured by Mandiwat B. Lynser, May Grace Fidela Nongkhlaw and Sannakisha Rapsang of Class VIII for their innovative IoT-based project titled ‘Smart Livestock Feeder’.
“The project impressed the judges with its practical relevance, specifically by addressing real-world agricultural challenges through the application of smart and efficient technology,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the principal of Carmel School has commended the students’ hard work, perseverance and discipline, whilst also acknowledging the committed guidance of the teachers.
