Fire destroys house in Mawlai, no casualty

SHILLONG, Dec 22: A major fire incident on Monday afternoon completely gutted a rented house belonging to Ibadalin Rangslang at Mawlai Nonglum, causing extensive loss of property.
The fire broke out at around 12 noon and intensified after a gas cylinder exploded, as flames spread rapidly throughout the house.
The house was rented out to two families—one headed by Kyntiewriti Sawkmie, comprising seven members, and the other by Buetilin Sawkmie, who lives with her child.
According to reports, only children were present inside the house when the fire erupted.
The families reportedly became aware of the incident only after the house had already been engulfed in flames.
The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
Fortunately, no human casualties were reported. However, all household belongings, including clothes and essential items, were completely destroyed in the blaze.
