London, Dec 27: Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi is set to remain at Selhurst Park until the end of the season despite growing interest in the highly rated centre-back ahead of the January transfer window.
The England international is entering the final six months of his contract, placing him on course for a free transfer in the summer. While his contract situation has inevitably alerted several top clubs across Europe and England, Palace are understood to be planning on keeping their defensive leader for the remainder of the campaign rather than sanctioning a mid-season departure. With the winter window opening on January 1, potential suitors could be tempted to accelerate their pursuit and secure Guehi earlier than planned. However, current indications suggest the 25-year-old is more likely to complete the season with Palace before assessing his options at the end of his deal.
From the turn of 2026, Guehi will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs, and interest from abroad is already significant. European heavyweights including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are all understood to be monitoring his situation closely as they look to strengthen their defensive ranks.
Closer to home, Liverpool and Manchester City are leading the Premier League interest in the Palace skipper. Guehi was close to securing a move to Anfield during the summer transfer window after the two clubs reached an agreement on a £35 million fee.
However, the proposed deal ultimately collapsed on deadline day after Palace were unable to line up a suitable replacement, forcing them to retain one of their most valuable assets. (Agencies)ww
