UP husband fatally shoots wife in police station

HARDOI, Jan 12: The recent shooting at the Pali police station in Hardoi serves as a disturbing example of security failure within a law enforcement facility. Anoop, 36, shot his wife, Soni, dead while she was in police custody following her alleged elopement. The attack took place on Monday morning as a constable escorted Soni to the station canteen for legal processing. Soni succumbed to her injuries at a district hospital shortly after. Following the brazen act, police arrested Anoop and an accomplice, recovering the murder weapon. In response to the oversight, Superintendent Ashok Kumar Meena suspended two officers for negligence and launched an investigation into the security breach. This tragic event underscores the necessity for stricter protocols within police stations to prevent personal vendettas from escalating into fatal violence, especially when individuals are under official protection.
