SHILLONG: SOS Children’s village Shillong through the Family Strengthening Programme celebrated International Family Day at FSP Location Umktieh, Ri Bhoi.

SOS India recognizes one of the best ways to prevent child abandonment is to help at risk families by empowering the parents to create a better, self-sufficient future for themselves and their children.

The purpose of the celebration was to create awareness about the importance of family as society’s building block in the holistic development of a child and the activities organised in celebration promoted and celebrated the values of ‘love & respect’, ‘commitment’ and ‘big-heartedness’ of family bonding.

Rakesh Jinsi, Secretary General, SOS Children’s Villages of India, based in the National office at Delhi said Families play an important role in the overall development of an individual.

SOS Children’s Villages of India is a non-profit, non-government, voluntary organization, committed to the care of children in need and to strengthening families and communities as a preventive measure in the fight against abandonment and social neglect.
