Police arrest wanted criminal in Ri-Bhoi

NONGPOH, Jan 29: Police from Umsohlait Police Station arrested a wanted criminal, Teibor Mawlong, following an early-morning operation in the Kseh Kynjoi forest area of Ri-Bhoi district on Thursday.
Mawlong was wanted in connection with a case registered at Mawngap Police Station under sections 323, 325, and 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code. Although the accused attempted to evade capture by fleeing into the difficult forest terrain, police successfully apprehended him after a chase.
During the arrest, police recovered a country-made revolver and a mobile phone from his possession.
The accused is being produced before a local court for further legal action.
