JOWAI, Jan 31: The Jaintia Fishing and Environment Protection Association has issued a strict warning against the killing of fish and aquatic life in Myntdu River and its designated fish sanctuary.
The association prohibited the use of poison (shoh kharu), traps or any other lethal methods along the entire stretch of the river.
It also appealed to the public to report any such illegal activities to its office-bearers or members.
The organisation announced that rewards would be given to those who provide information leading to the detection of violators, while ensuring that the identity of informants remains strictly confidential.
Association president DH Pde and general secretary M. Challam further urged anglers and fish lovers to cooperate with the association in protecting the river’s ecosystem.
