SHILLONG, Feb 1: The state government will begin inspections of various urban development projects across Shillong starting next week, Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar said on Sunday.
Dhar said that he plans to personally review different projects currently being implemented across the city. “Next week I will go for inspection of different projects implemented across the Shillong city,” he said.
On the ongoing city beautification project, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that there is adequate time for its completion, noting that it forms part of a broader infrastructure development plan.
Asked about the project cost, Dhar said the expenditure is more than Rs 30 crore.
He further stressed that the present priority of the government is infrastructure-related work, including footpaths and beautification initiatives. “Now it is the infrastructure development, footpaths and beautification – and after that only we will go for cleaning (of the Wahumkhrah),” Dhar added.
