TURA/DADENGGRE, Feb 5: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), West Garo Hills, in collaboration with the state and national disaster management authorities, will conduct a large-scale mock exercise on earthquake and landslide preparedness on February 9.
The exercise aims to evaluate the coordination and response capabilities of emergency services and various government departments.
In the Rongram area, the drill will be held at several locations, including the 2nd Battalion MLP quarters, Rongram Market, local schools, the petrol pump, and Chibra Agal. The exercise is being organised under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal.
Simultaneously, a mock exercise will take place in the Dadenggre Sub-Division at 1 PM. SDO Richa Kulkarni has identified Song Adinggre and the Dadenggre petrol pump as the designated incident sites.
To prepare for the field drills, a virtual ‘Table Top Exercise’ will be conducted by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on February 6. SDO Kulkarni recently met with various officials to outline the roles and responsibilities within the Incident Response System.
Authorities have requested the cooperation of village heads, school management, and local committees to ensure the exercise runs smoothly. The general public is advised not to panic, as these are simulated drills designed to enhance disaster awareness and safety measures.
