Youth brutally assaulted in city, FIR filed

SHILLONG, Feb 8: A youth was allegedly assaulted by a group of unidentified miscreants near Laban, according to an FIR lodged at Laban Police Station.
As per the complaint dated February 7, addressed to the Officer In-Charge of Laban Police Station, the complainant stated that his son, Nishant Lyngdoh, had gone to attend a birthday party at a friend’s residence near Laban Last Stop at around 8 PM but while returning from the party at approximately 1:45 AM, the youth walked through a lane in the Harisabha area. Near an abandoned house close to the Bandhan Bank office, around five to six boys allegedly pulled him inside the vacant house and assaulted him.
According to the complaint, the victim was beaten and allegedly thrown into a fire, sustaining multiple injuries. The FIR mentions that his head was hit with a sharp weapon, his nose and mouth were bleeding, and he suffered burn marks on his body. His legs and feet were also reported to be swollen.
The complainant stated that the police was contacted and also 108 service as the victim was bleeding excessively. The injured youth was shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment, where he is currently undergoing medical care.
The statement of the victim, who is under treatment at Shillong Civil Hospital, was recorded on Sunday as part of the ongoing investigation.
In the FIR, the complainant has requested that the matter be treated as an attempt to murder and that strict action be taken against those involved.
