SHILLONG, Feb 12: A central National Level Monitoring (NLM) team is examining the progress and implementation of various centrally sponsored livestock schemes in Meghalaya.
The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary (AH&V) department on Thursday hosted a briefing session for the visiting team at the office of the Director, AH&V department. The session was chaired by Dr A Chyne, Director of the department, in the presence of Dr MD Sharma, Deputy Director and Nodal Officer for Central Sector Schemes, along with senior departmental officials and representatives of implementing agencies.
The NLM team, comprising Dr Mihir Mondal and Dr Mahesh Katara, has been empanelled by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) to review and assess the status of schemes being implemented in Meghalaya.
During their five-day visit from February 12 to 16, the team will review the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), National Livestock Mission (NLM), Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP), and the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD), along with other allied livestock development initiatives.
The team is also scheduled to undertake field visits to East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills districts to inspect project sites, interact with beneficiaries and assess the ground-level impact of the schemes. The visit is aimed at strengthening monitoring mechanisms, ensuring transparency and accountability, and providing feedback for further improvement of livestock development programmes in the state.
