Assam woman killed in NH-6 hit-and-run

NONGPOH, March 1: A 27-year-old woman died on the spot after being run over by an unidentified vehicle at 12 Mer along National Highway 6 in Ri-Bhoi on Sunday afternoon.
The victim, identified as Absana Khatun of Darrang district, Assam, was hit around 3:30 pm opposite CTI Byrnihat. The vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene immediately.
Meanwhile, Byrnihat police have registered a case and shifted the body to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post-mortem. An investigation is under way to identify the vehicle.
