MAWKYRWAT, March 1: The Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong (SRS) San Shnong Manad Area has expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of blacktopping on the 5-km PMGSY road connecting Photjaud to Mawbidong in South West Khasi Hills.
Following an inspection on Saturday, SRS president Reddy Shylla raised concerns that the road may not be durable due to poor construction.
He noted that because the road is situated on a steep slope, drainage canals should have been built with concrete to prevent monsoon damage.
Shylla also highlighted the need for proper retaining walls in specific sections to prevent landslides and protect nearby houses.
Additionally, he mentioned that the road does not reach the end of Mawbidong village as residents had expected.
While the organisation thanked the government for the project, noting its benefits for transporting agricultural produce and facilitating medical emergencies, it has requested the PWD (Roads) to conduct a formal inspection.
It is pertinent to note that the road serves five villages, including Manad, Mawbidong, Lummawbah, Pynden Lyngdoh and Pynden Sohlang, linking them to Mawkyrwat and the rest of the district.
