Teen beaten to death by friend during T20 final

HAJIPUR(Bihar), March 9:A teenager was beaten to death by a friend while watching the T20 World Cup final in Bihar’s Vaishali.The deceased, identified as Kundan Kumar (17), while his friend Kishan Kumar has been named as the accused.Police said, “The death of the boy took place following a dispute and subsequent scuffle between two friends who were watching the final match, along with others, on a mobile phone.” He said police reached the spot following the incident and initiated a probe into it.According to eyewitnesses, the dispute erupted over shouting and celebrations during the India-New Zealand final. The accused allegedly slammed the victim to the ground and hit him on the head, leaving him seriously injured.Locals rushed Kundan to Mahnar Community Health Centre, from where he was referred to Hajipur Sadar Hospital after primary treatment. When his situation remained critical there, he was sent to Patna Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way, police said.The accused has been identified, and raids are being conducted to nab him, they added. Man poses as IFS officer in UP; arrested

KUSHINAGAR (UP), March 9: A 28-year-old man, who was allegedly posing as an Indian Foreign Service officer, was arrested in Kushinagar district on Monday.Upon receiving the information regarding a man posing as an IFS officer, the police took cognisance and deployed teams to arrest the accused.The police arrested Pawan Chauhan and recovered an identity card, two fake Aadhaar cards, an election card, five ATM cards, three seals, an inkpad, a diary, two mobile phones, and two protocol papers.Pawan Chauhan, confessed to forging documents and fraudulently obtaining unfair benefits from various government departments.Posing as an IFS officer, he prepared forged protocols based on a fake identity card and sent them to various government offices via email to legitimise his fraud.Through this medium, he dupes young people from rural areas by promising them jobs, promotions, or other government benefits. Indonesia inks pact to buy BrahMos missile from India

NEW DELHI, March 9: Indonesia has entered into an agreement with India to buy the BrahMos missile system, its Defence Ministry spokesperson Rico Ricardo Sirait said on Monday. Rico told the Reuters news agency that the agreement was “part of Indonesia’s modernisation of military hardware and defence capabilities, especially in the maritime sector”.BrahMos, a company co-owned by the Indian and Russian governments, has been in discussions with Indonesia for the sale of the cruise missile. The agreement follows prolonged negotiations that gained momentum during high-level visits, including discussions at the India-Indonesia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue in 2025.Jakarta has become the second foreign buyer of the supersonic cruise missile after the Philippines. BrahMos produces s missiles that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or land platforms. It is jointly developed by India and Russia and is one of the Indian armed forces’ key weapons, used by the army, navy, and air force. (IANS)
