Free coaching
The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, has informed that free coaching classes for candidates from the district, interested in joining the Indian Army as Agniveer, will commence from the March 30 onwards. In this regard, interested candidates have been asked to register themselves at the Office of the Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, MBoSE Building, Lower Lachumiere, before March 25 by producing the acknowledgement slip received during the registration for Agniveer.
Unclaimed body
On March 13 at around 06:40 am, a body of an unidentified man, aged approximately between 35 and 40 years, was recovered from a betel nut farm at Thwailangtuk, Donaskur village, East Jaintia Hills. The inquest was subsequently conducted on the spot in the presence of witnesses. After completion of all necessary legal formalities, the body was then forwarded to Khliehriat Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. The body has, meanwhile, been kept at the hospital morgue of Khliehriat CHC, East Jaintia Hills, for identification and claim. According to police, the deceased, suspected to be a non-tribal, had a thin build and was found wearing a green t-shirt, white vest and a pair of black trousers.
Eye camps
The AROH Foundation, in collaboration with Mission Nethralaya Eye Care, organised comprehensive free eye camps in February and March in Jongksha and Thynroit villages, East Khasi Hills. More than 250 people had benefitted during the eye camps.
