100 helmets for city schoolchildren

SHILLONG, March 17: In an effort to promote road safety among young commuters, SBI General Insurance, in collaboration with the Shillong Traffic Police, distributed 100 helmets among schoolchildren at Dhankheti point on Tuesday morning.
The initiative aims to encourage helmet use and instill safe riding habits from an early age. Samir Kant Jha, DGM of the SBI Administrative Office in Shillong, emphasised that helmets are essential for both riders and pillion passengers. He noted that such efforts help foster a consistent culture of safety on the roads.
Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Kamakhya Prasad reiterated the traffic police’s commitment to strictly enforcing safety regulations. He stated that road safety is a collective responsibility of all citizens and stakeholders, praising SBI General for its proactive role in organising the drive.
