TURA, Mar 26 In view of the prevailing law and order situation, the District Magistrate of West Garo Hills, Vibhor Agarwal, has imposed a night curfew across the district under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
According to the official order, the curfew will be in force daily from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM throughout the district until further notice. The directive follows reports of incidents involving violence and disturbance to public peace in various parts of the district, posing a threat to human life, safety, and property.
During the curfew hours, residents have been strictly prohibited from venturing outside their homes. Law enforcement agencies, including Executive Magistrates and police personnel, have been directed to enforce the order rigorously and take necessary action against violators.
The order further states that any breach of the curfew will invite penal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other relevant provisions. Authorities have emphasized that the measure is necessary to restore normalcy and prevent further escalation of violence in the district.
The curfew has been imposed as an urgent preventive measure and will remain in effect until further orders.
