SHILLONG, March 25: Meghalaya is getting enough supply of both petrol and diesel despite the ongoing war in West Asia, officials said on Wednesday.
This comes amid fears of fuel shortage and hike in prices of petrol and diesel.
Petrol pump owners in Shillong said that the situation is absolutely normal with no shortage of petrol and diesel.
“Supplies are coming in regularly from the oil depot in Guwahati,” a pump owner said while adding that people are resorting to panic buying in different cities even though there are no issues with supplies.
According to the owner, India is facing no issues as far as supply of petrol/diesel is concerned, adding that the keeps reserves of petrol and diesel for three months at any given time.
As of Wednesday, petrol was priced at Rs 96.25 per litre while diesel was selling at Rs 87.47 per litre.
Himachal Pradesh is the only state in India where fuel rates are set to increase after the state passed a bill to levy a cess of up to Rs 5 per litre on petrol and high-speed diesel.
