Meghalaya duo makes strong doubles run

Shillong, March 26: Meghalaya’s Amit Ram and Ishan Rawat advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s doubles event at the MTA AITA Pro Circuit Men’s ₹1 Lakh Tennis Tournament 2026, delivering a composed and determined performance at the Shillong Club Tennis Courts.
The home duo secured their place in the last four after overcoming a strong opposition in a closely contested opening-round encounter, holding their nerve at crucial stages of the match. Their run has been a major highlight for the local contingent, as they continue to compete strongly against experienced pairs from across the country.
Elsewhere in the doubles draw, top-seeded combinations, including Nishith Naveen and Tushar Mittal, progressed in line with expectations to set up key contests in the later stages.
In the singles category, several top seeds advanced with convincing wins, reflecting the high level of competition on display.
Organised by the Meghalaya Tennis Association, the tournament has seen participation from players across India and has been conducted smoothly at the Shillong Club courts. With the event now entering its decisive phase, the intensity is expected to rise as players battle for top honours.
